more than just rocking out!
CAMP INFO:
Our mission is to empower youth to authentically express themselves by providing a supportive community that fosters creativity, confidence, and collaboration through music education and performance. In a weeklong summer session run by adult community volunteers, campers gain meaningful life experiences of collaboration, problem solving, self-expression, and involvement in social justice in a creative, supportive environment.
Campers will learn instrument and vocals basics, compose original songs that they will perform live to family, friends, and community members. Throughout each session, OLL also provides daily workshops geared towards building self-esteem and encouraging self-expression and involvement in social justice.
At OLL, we seek to create a supportive community of peers and positive mentors that encourage and teach youth to be their own music heroes, allowing them to think differently about limits that may be placed upon them by our society. Our programming provides unique opportunities that are rarely found elsewhere: we use music as a vehicle to eradicate limiting myths about gender and age; we increase access and exposure to music education and hands-on learning; and our programming encourages collaboration, leadership skills, and self-confidence.

No! We support all the ways campers want to “rock” — whatever that means to them! We teach, listen to, and love all sorts of music from rock to hip-hop, jazz to folk, pop to punk! Campers are encouraged to explore and create any kind of music that they feel passionate about.
-
Girls, femmes, trans people of all gender identities and gender non-conforming folks are not always given equal access to quality instrument instruction and encouragement in gender-affirming spaces. We would like to encourage them to challenge this norm. The best way to do that is through a week of fun where girls, trans, and GNC youth can interact with each other in a safe, comfortable and supportive atmosphere.

Yes! We are proud to partner with local businesses in providing lunch each day, however, campers are welcome to bring their own lunches if they have specific needs.
