Volunteers

Jackie Royce

Meet Jackie Royce! Jackie has been a workshop leader and band coach for Out Loud Louisville in previous years. She has a classical music background, but has forged a path for herself between the classical and rock/experimental scenes here in Louisville.

Jackie was one of the musicians on the GRAMMY Award-winning recording _The American Project_ with the Louisville Orchestra, Teddy Abrams, and Yuja Wang. Since 2011, she has been a member of the local art-rock band Ut Gret. She has also performed, toured, and recorded with Sapat, Waterbirds, Cat Casual, The Ford Theatre Reunion, Adjy, Tim Barnes, The Mothership Ensemble, Camera Lucida, il Troubadore, NovemberGroup, Dane Waters, Eugene Chadbourne, The Cut Family Foundation, Jecorey "1200" Arthur, and Recreational Nukes. Indicative of her commitment to musical expression across genres, she is also part of the experimental quartet Sun Variations, which hosts cross-disciplinary jams.

Jackie teaches free improvisation workshops for Out Loud Louisville's adult and youth camps, as well as for Louisville Academy of Music. She integrates music theory and improvisation into her coachings with students. She also directs the Beginner Group with the Louisville Leopard Percussionists and has taught in schools and privately for nearly 15 years.

Ann Gilly

My name is Ann Gilly, and I am a graphic designer, artist and musician. I have lived in Louisville for 5 years and play in two local bands, Half Nelson and Bungalow Betty. My primary instruments are guitar, bass and voice. In 2022, I participated in OLL's Adult Rock Camp - where Half Nelson was born!

I really believe in the mission of OLL and promoting the development and empowerment of femme and otherwise marginalized musicians, so I decided to come back as a volunteer this year. I have helped with marketing efforts and will be the bass instructor at Adult Rock Camp. I can't wait to meet the new campers and watch everyone at the showcases!

Rhythm

Science Sound

Rhythm Science Sound (RSS) is a Louisville-based collective of sound artists, deejays, and music-tech educators who work to preserve, develop and forward the culture of electronic dance musics. We look to sound and movement, and the liberatory social, artistic and educational spaces that can be created around them as a vital tool for enriching and strengthening our communities. Through our work, we've seen that electronic dance musics (such as hip hop, house music, dub, etc) have an unparalleled capacity to create community, facilitate the building, sharing, and mobilization of knowledge and culture, and spur artistic innovation.

Eva

Hello everyone, my name is Eva! I have 15+ years of vocal experience, ranging from classical training to karaoke. During the week I am working hard making my way to becoming a music therapist. I love helping people of all ages and backgrounds find their voices. On the weekends you can find me playing music around town, taking my dog to the park, and binge watching any shows I can find.
